MIDLAND, Mich. – The Holy Cross continued their start in 2014 on the road over the weekend as they traveled to Midland, Michigan for a series with Northwood University. Three different Saints scored goals in Friday night's series opener as the Saints knocked off the Timberwolves for their first win of 2014. Northwood would take control in Saturday's finale to defeat the Saints 6-3. With the series split, the Saints improve to 18-10 on the year.

Freshman goaltender Devin Nyers (Mishawaka, Ind.) stopped 29-of-32 shots in Friday night's series opener against the Timberwolves as the Saints picked up their first win of the 2014 portion of their schedule. Drew Brodbeck (A) (Stillwater, Minn.) netted two goals in the game, including the game-winner in the second period, as the Saints snapped a two-game slide the previous week at Aquinas. Jake Radde (Granger, Ind.) and Will Bauers (Villa Park, Ill.) added one goal each in the victory.

B.J. Kolcz (A) (Marysville, Mich.) led the Saints with three points, all assists, while senior captain Tommy Lyons (C) (Valparaiso, Ind.) added an assist.

Northwood's offensive attack was much more potent on Saturday's series finale as the Timberwolves finished the game with 52 shots in the 6-3 victory.

Nick Wink (Western Springs, Ill.), Ryan Gallup (Fishers, Ind.) and Phil Abate (Hindsdale, Ill.) each added a goal for the Saints. Jake Radde finished with a team-high three assists while. B.J. Kolcz (A), Sean Root (Livonia, Mich.) and Nick Wink added an assist apiece.

Devin Nyers finished the game stopping 46-of-52 shots faced.

The Saints (18-10) will return home to the Ice Box beginning on Friday, January 24 against in-state rival Indiana University at 9:15 p.m. EST. The series will conclude on Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
