LOCKPORT, Ill. – The Holy Cross women's golf team opened up their spring season over the weekend with their participation in the St. Francis (Ill.) Spring Invitational. After 36 holes at Prairie Bluff GC, the Saints concluded the event with a seventh place finish out of the eight-team field.
The Saints concluded round one of the St. Francis Spring Invitational sitting in sixth place after posting a team score of 389. Sarah Hartle (SO/Warsaw, Ind.) led the way for the Saints with a team-low of 89. Freshman Kylie Day (FR/Zionsville, Ind.) added a 96 to go along with a 99 from Emily Duff (SO/Rochester, Ind.). Rounding out the round one scores, Kendra Luckey (SO/Danville, Ind.) and Kelly Murphy (SR/Youngstown, Ohio) added a 105 and 112.
The cool conditions in round two provided a more difficult challenge for the Saints as their team score went up six strokes, pushing them into a seventh place finish.
Emily Duff cut nine strokes off her round one total to finish a team-low 90 on day two. Duff finished the event with a 36-hole score of 189. Kyle Day matched her 96 in round one on the final day to finish with a tournament score of 192.
Sarah Hartle scored a 99 on day two to finish with a team-best score of 188 for the event.
Bethel (Ind.) College took home the team championship with a tournament low of 321 on the final day. Geandra Almeida of Bethel brought home the individual championship.
The Saints will return to the links beginning on Monday, March 31 in the Marian Spring Classic held at Broadmoor Country Club.
