(Notre Dame, IN) The Saints hosted Concordia University Saturday afternoon at the McKenna Arena in a non-conference match-up. These two teams met on Oct. 30th with Concordia handling the Saints 94 - 53.
Saturday afternoon was a much different story for the young Saints. Leading throughout, Holy Cross took an 8 point lead into half. The Saints were able to stretch their lead to as many as 11 with just under 6 minutes to play, but the Cardinals refused to go away. Concordia went on a 12 - 2 run pulling them within a point with 2: 11 remaining in the game. Two free-throws by J.T Breveard gave the Saints a 3 point lead, but a costly turnover with a minute remaining led to a 3 - pointer by Concordia's Kyle Barlow to tie the game.
The Saints came up empty handed on their next possession giving Concordia a chance to win the game and take their first lead since the 17 minute mark in the first half. Concordia's Chad McMullen answered nailing a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining for a 73 - 70 lead and victory.
Sophomore transfer Taylor Williams made his Holy Cross debut with 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Zac Cook and Adam Onderdonk each chipped in 13 points. The Saints shot 46% from the field and out -rebounded the Cardinals 42 - 35.
The Saints travel across town Tuesday evening to take on IU-South Bend in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up at 7pm.
