(Wakarusa, Ind.) Lindsey Steffen of Northwood High School has signed a letter of intent with the Holy Cross College women's basketball program.
The 5'9'' Steffen is the first women's basketball player to sign for the 2010-11 school year. While attending Northwood Lindsey was a four year scholar athlete and letter winner in girl's basketball. She won numerous awards including; most improved (2007), team defensive award (2008), All Northern Lakes Conference Honorable Mention (2009), and First Team All Northern Lakes (2010).
"I've been watching Lindsey since her junior year in hopes that we could get her here at Holy Cross and her signing is huge for our program," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "Lindsey is an amazingly gifted athlete, but she's an even better person."
Lindsey will play a vital role for the Saints in the coming years. "When we signed Lindsey we not only got a foundational piece to our program, but we got a quality young lady who has her priorities in order," said Hunsberger. "Lindsey is an unselfish teammate that will do whatever she is asked to do for the team; she's a true winner on and off the court."
The Saints finished their inaugural season in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA DI) at 5 - 26. Competing in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), the Saints will drop down to NAIA DII status for the upcoming year.
