(South Bend, Ind.) The Saints welcomed Olivet Nazarene University to the Indiana Invaders complex Wednesday night for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match.
Both teams squandered first half opportunities to take an early lead as the two sides went into half in a 0 - 0 draw. Getting his first start of the season in goal Ashley Wormall (Nottingham, England) had 3 saves on the night in 90 minutes of action.
In the 60th minute Olivet finally broke the scoreless tie when Chris Mast beat Wormall on a set play. Seth Arriaga recorded the assist. A minute later Raphael Correa put the Tigers up two in the 61st minute and Billy Jackson added a third goal in the 69th minute.
David Alva (Ontario, Canada) put the Saints on the board in the 73rd minute for his second goal of the season. Nikolas Jelicic (Ontario, Canada) recorded the assist on the play. The Saints continued to pressure in the remaining 17 minutes, but the Tigers defense held strong and Olivet won 3 - 1.
The Saints fall to 4 - 6 - 1 overall and 1 - 2 in the CCAC. They will return to action at St. Xavier University this Saturday, October 9th, at 2:30pm. The Cougars are currently 7 - 2 on the year and sit atop the CCAC standings.
