(Chicago, Ill) After a tough loss to now #20 Judson Unviversity the men's soccer team was looking to steal a road conference win Tuesday evening against Illinois Tech. However, the ScarletHawks had different plans.
Much of the first half remained calm, but Tech was able to score twice in a 10 minute span to take a 2 goal advantage into half. The game quickly fell apart for the Saints in the second half as Tech scored 4 times before the Saints could get a goal of their own.
Niko Jelicic (Ontario, Canada) scored his second goal in as many games in the 87th minute. Tech was able to add their seventh goal of the game one minute later in 88th minute to cruise past the Saints for a 7 - 1 victory.
Holy Cross was out shot 25 - 5 on the night and the Hawks were able to place 16 of those shots on goal. Six different players scored for Tech in the victory as they move to 12 - 4 on the year and 8 - 0 in the conference.
The Saints fall to 4 - 11 - 2 overall and 1 - 7 - 1 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). They will wrap up their season at home this Saturday, October 30th, at the Indiana Invaders complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm. Holy Cross seniors will be honored between the men's and women's games.
