(Deerfield, Ill.) A pair of free-throws by freshman guard Dane Okuda (Huntington Beach, Calif.) gave the visiting Saints a two point lead at half in their final regular season game.
Tied at 39 with 12:38 remaining in the game the Trojans went on a 7-0 run that gave Trinity International a lead they would never relinquish. The Saints eventually fell 75-61.
"We played a great first half," said Head Coach Bob Schermerhorn. "Trinity came out ready to play in the second half and we were unable to make a stop late in the game."
Okuda finished the game with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Zac Cook (South Bend, Ind.) chipped in 11 points including 3-of-9 from 3-point range. Taylor Williams (South Bend, Ind.) added 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
As a team the Saints shot 35% from the field and turned the ball over 20 times to the Trojans 19. Trinity out rebounded Holy Cross 48-33. Trinity's Ignas Verbus finished with a game high 24 points.
The Saints will play in the first round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tuesday against Trinity Christian College. The Saints are 0-2 against the Trolls this season.
