(Kendallville, IN) The Holy Cross Men's Golf Team took to the links for the first time earlier this week at Noble Hawk/Cobblestone in Kendallville, Indiana.
The men's team finished second with an overall two day score of 597. The men's team finished just six shots off the leader and winner of the invitation Ashford University who finished the two-day event with a 591 overall.
The Saints were only two shots off the leader after the first day. They shot a 298 while Ashford had shot a 296 overall on day one. The Saints, however, could not better their score from day one as they shot a 299 while Ashford shot a 295 on day two giving them the 6 stroke difference and the championship.
Matthew Code (Ontario, Canada) shot a one over par 72 on the first day followed by a 3 over par 75 on the second day to finish tied for fifth and an overall score of 147 (+4).
Freshman Chris Noble finished 16th with an overall score of 150 (+7), and sophomore transfer Mike Fitzgerald rallied to shoot a 73 on day two to finish with a 151 (+8) overall and finish tied for 17th.
Three men's golfers managed to finish in the top 17 of the individual finishers which propelled them to the second place finish. This was the first tournament of the fall for the men's golf team.
