(Waukegan, IL) The Women's Golf Team took to the links this past weekend at Bonniebrook Golf Course at the Robert Morris Fall Classic.
The girls finished 5th out of a thirteen team field with an over overall score of 353.  Olivet Nazarene finished 1st overall with an overall score of 341.  The Saints finished just 2 shots out of 4th place and 3 shots off the of the third place finisher Carthage College.
"I was very happy, because we beat every team in the conference that was there except for Olivet Nazarene.  I do, however, feel like we have some work to do in our consistency to come up with a better team score.  I know that the girls will keep working hard, and that it will be there.  Hopefully we will continue off of this success, and improve for our conference tournament at Judson on October 7th," said Head Coach Tim Holt.
Freshman Lexie Price (Mater Dei High School, California) led the Saints with a third place finish.  She shot an 82 overall which was good for 9 over par for the day.  She tied for second with Ashley Miller from Olivet Nazarene, but lost in a playoff for the second place finish. Senior Regina Slonkosky (Minster, Ohio) finished 5th overall with an 84 on the day which was eleven over par.  The Saints had two players finish in the top 5 of the tournament.
"I am very happy with Lexie and Regina.  I felt Lexie showed great poise shooting a 37 after shooting a 45 on the front nine.  That was great to see from a freshman bouncing back like that.  I am very happy for Regina.  She has showed great leadership all season, and has played very steady for us all season," said Coach Holt.
Freshman Kelsie Skipper (Elkhart, Indiana) rounded out the Saints performance with an eleventh place finish.  She shot an 85 overall and 12 over par for the tournament.
"It was probably the best performance we have ever had in the history of the women's golf team.  I am very proud of the girls, and hopefully we can carry on this momentum throughout the rest of the season," said Coach Holt.
The Saint hit the links again in a combined tournament with the Men's Golf Team on September 23rd and 24th where Bethel College hosts a tournament at local Blackthorn Golf Course.
