Adam Dobrzykowski's (South Bend, IN) double - double Tuesday evening wasn't enough to stop the Moody Bible Institute Archers from a 77 - 63 win at the Pfeil Center. Dobrzykowski had 11 rebounds and 12 points in the loss.
The Saints started strong shooting nearly 55% from the field in the first half. However, they trailed the Archers by 6 at half. The second half started at a snail's pace for both sides as missed field goal opportunities for the Saints kept the Archers with the slight advantage. The Saints took a one point lead on a free throw from freshman guard Elliott Jones Jr. (Hazel Crest, IL), with 10:35 remaining in the game. The lead would quickly slip from the young Saints. The Archers, led by #11 Jason LaLonde, took over the final 5 minutes of the game outscoring the Saints 17 - 5.
LaLonde led all scorers with 23. Brandon Baldwin of Moody chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Elliott Jones Jr. led the Saints with 20 points, and Mark Wilkins (Chicago, IL) added 16.
"I thought we played a good game against Moody with lots of intensity," Said Head Coach Steve Baumgartner. "Once we got up five with seven to go we started to get a little excited and that led to some costly mental mistakes on both ends of the court"
The Saints will play host to Andrews University this Saturday at 7 pm. For stats on this game please visit:
