The Holy Cross lacrosse team took on the Loyola University (Chicago) Ramblers at Lake Forest College Sunday afternoon. It took overtime to decide the outcome as both teams battled for an early South division victory.
The Saints jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but the Ramblers were able to bounce back with two unanswered goals before half. Loyola carried the momentum into the third period tying the game at 4. Entering the fourth and final period the game was tied at 5.
Loyola kept the Saints on their heels for most of the fourth period. The Ramblers eventually took a 6 - 5 lead with 7 minutes left in the game. The Saints countered with a goal to tie the game with a 1:28 remaining.
In overtime, Loyola won the face-off and took the ball down field to score the game winning goal. The Saints will play at Lake Forest College on Saturday at 2pm (cst), and again at 11am (cst) and 1pm (cst) on Sunday.
