Saints Tie for First at Columbus State Invitational
Men's Golf - Fri, Apr. 3, 2009
The Holy Cross men's golf team tied for first at the Columbus State Invitational at Scioto Reserve Golf Club in Powell, Ohio, Thursday afternoon. Leading the Saints was freshman Jake Baranek (78), finishing 3rd place overall individually.
The Saints competed against Columbus State CC (321), Notre Dame College (OH) (332), Ohio State (Marion) (422), and Akron (Wayne) (448).
"The course was in great condition and played very difficult for the entire field. Scioto Reserve has played host too many national-level, professional golf tournaments, and was a great test for us," said Head Coach Ryan Gowen.
Helping out the Saints were freshmen Tyler Kanczuzewski (79), and sophomore Tyler Alge (81). "Scores were uncharacteristically high across the board," said Coach Gowen. "This provided us a learning experience to carry on for the rest of the competitive spring season."
The Saints Golf team will be in action April 11th at Glenn Oaks Spring Invitational.
