Oakland City, IND. -- The Holy Cross Saints women's golf team capped off their best finish of the fall season at the Country Oaks Invitational hosted by Oakland City University. A team score of 342 propelled the Saints to a second place finish out of the six-team field, trailing only to tournament champion Hanover College by five strokes.
"Another impressive outing for our girls," coach Tim Holt said. "We're continuing to make strides as a team and you can really see the improvement of the girls. This was a great step in the right direction for us as we get towards the end of the fall season."
Fresh off of her first place individual finish at the Robert Morris University Invitational, freshman Kyle Day (Zionsville, Ind.) led the Saints for a second consecutive tournament with a score of 83, giving her a tie for fourth individually and a spot on the all-tournament team.
Following Day's team-best 83, Emily Duff (Rochester, Ind.) and Mia DelPrince (Fishers, Ind.) each chipped in with tournament rounds of 86 to give them a tie for ninth place individually.
Sophomore Sarah Hartle (Warsaw, Ind.) also finished with a top-15 individual finish after her tournament round of 87. Freshman Katie Krohn (Noblesville, Ind.) rounded out the Saints second place finish with a round of 97.
The second place finish for the Saints is their best team finish is their best finish in a tournament pool of five teams or more in program history.
"One day events are never easy as there's a lot of pressure to perform well," continued Holt. "The girls did an excellent job performing and I look forward to the continued growth of each of our players."
The Saints will close out the fall season at the Fall Invitational hosted by the University of St. Francis (Ill.) with a 3-6hole event beginning on Friday, October 5.
