Nine athletes from the men's and women's soccer team were named to the all-academic teams during the fall semester

CHICAGO, Ill. -- A total of 300 student-athletes from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's 14 member schools were honored for their academic accomplishments when the league announced its fall all-academic teams on Friday.

Holy Cross earned nine combined selections from the men's and women's soccer teams, they are:

Lindsey Swaim (Elkhart, Ind.) and Leah Trattles (Holland, Mich.) each picked up their second selection to the fall all-academic team. Swaim, a captain for the women's soccer team during her senior season, is a double major in psychology and communications while Trattles is a double major in psychology and business.

Senior Aileen Clouse (Beavercreek, Ohio) picked up her first all-academic selection. The senior is a business major.

Captain Kayla Vanlue (Fort Wayne, Ind.) picked up her first selection as an elementary education major.

Rounding out the women's soccer recipients are sophomore's Zayra Valencia (South Bend, Ind.) and Haleigh Vander Vinne (Chesterton, Ind.) and junior Norma Reyes (South Bend, Ind.). Valencia is a double major in communications and psychology, Reyes in liberal studies and Vander Vinne is currently undecided.

Niko Jelicic (Sucuraj, Croatia) and Connor Simpson (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) were the two recipients for the men's soccer team. Jelicic, a two-time recipient, is majoring in psychology while Simpson, a sophomore, is a double major of communications and business.

To be nominated for one of the five teams, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at his/her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
