NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Head coach Brian Blondell and the Holy Cross baseball team have announced the signings of Justin Reaves and Maris Marazita for the 2015 season.
Justin Reaves will join the Saints from Chicago, Ill. where he's wrapping up his senior year at the De LaSalle Institute. An outfielder who plays for Top Tier in the summer, Reaves also has served as a Camp leader for B.I.G Baseball Academy, worked with Jack and Jill of America and UJAMAA Jr. Investment Club.
A USSSA All-American, Reaves also participated in basketball and football.
"I'm really looking forward to getting to college and developing bonds with my future teammates," Reaves said. "The visit was very welcoming and I really enjoyed the small campus environment. I think it will be a great fit for me as a student-athlete."
Reaves is the son of Joe Reaves and Karma Webber and plans to major in business with a minor in sports management.
Maris Marazita joins the Saints from Edwardsburg High School where he plays second base.
"Maris is a quick middle-infielder who covers great ground at second base," Blondell stated. "He will bring a nice dimension to our team next season."
In his junior season at Edwardsburg, Marazita appeared in 29 games where he hit .364, had six doubles, a triple and 17 RBI's. He led the team with 31 run's scored while also drawing a team-best 24 walks.
Marazita will be the second of his name to join the Saints as his father, Todd, is entering his second season as the lead assistant coach.
"The signing of both Justin and Maris is a good start for our class," continued Blondell. "Both are very versatile with loads of potential. We're excited to get both on campus next season."
The Saints begin open up the 2014 season on February 22 in Kentucky with a doubleheader against Union (Ky.) College.
