(Berrien Springs, MI) The men's soccer team also made the trip to Andrews University for a night game under the lights. A large and raucous crowd added more excitement to the growing rivalry between the two schools.
A quick pace to the first half drew a lot of early whistles from the referees. The first half went back and forth as neither team could produce any offense. Andrews committed 8 fouls in the half including 3 yellow cards by three different players.
The second half belonged to the Saints as they were able to push the Andrews defense back. However, the Saints could not put anything past Andrews's goalkeeper Scott Joyce. Unable to cash in on any attempts the Saints were forced to play overtime for the second time this season. In the season opener, Holy Cross lost to Moody Bible in the first half of overtime. This time the result was a little better as neither team netted a goal. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Saints outshot Andrews 16 - 4, and controlled corner kicks 10 - 4. Andrews committed 15 fouls and ended up with 3 yellow cards for the game.
The two sides will meet again in a week at the Indiana Invaders complex. The scheduled start time is 4:00pm.
