The Saints took home fourth place in the eight-team field at the Pilot Spring Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Holy Cross women's golf team wrapped up their third event of the spring season over the weekend as participants in the 2014 Pilot Spring Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club. After posting a round one score of 370, the Saints closed out their participation in the event with a 350 on day two for a team score of 720 and a fourth place finish out of the eight-team field. Kylie Day (FR/Zionsville, Ind.) led the team with a 16th place individual finish.

Kylie Day and Sarah Hartle (SO/Warsaw, Ind.) led the way for the Saints in round one of the Pilot Spring Invitational, each posting scores of 88. Emily Duff (SO/Rochester, Ind.) added a 94 while Victoria Anania (SR/Charleston, S.C.) and Kelly Murphy (SR/Youngstown, Ohio) concluded the opening round for the Saints with scores of 100 and 104.

At the conclusion of round one, the tournament hosts from Bethel (Ind.) College maintained the lead with a team score of 304.

All five players improved their scores in round two as the Saints knocked 20 strokes off their round one team score to finish with a score of 350.

Similar to round one, Kylie Day led the Saints with an 82 in round two to finish with a 36-hole total of 170 and a 16th place individual finish. Sarah Hartle finished with three less strokes on round two with a score of 85 to give her a tournament total of 173 and a 17th place individual finish.

Emily Duff had the largest improvement stroke wise in the two-day event, finishing with seven less strokes for an 87 and a tournament score of 181.

Victoria Anania and Kelly Murphy rounded out the event for the Saints with scores of 96 and 102, respectively.

With the 350 round two total, the Saints remained strong for a fourth place finish in the eight-team field.

The tournament hosts of Bethel (Ind.) College took home first place in the team standings with a score of 613 as well as having Geandra Almeida and Erin Devries bringing home the individual honors with 36-hole scores of 146.

The Saints will return to action on Friday, April 18 with round one of the Taylor Invitational at Meshingomesia Country Club.
