MARION, Ind. – The Holy Cross women's golf team wrapped up their final spring event of the 2014 season at the Taylor Spring Invitational just prior to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Championship. After posting team rounds of 385 and 380, the Saints concluded their participation in the Taylor Spring Invitational with a third place finish in the five-team field. Sarah Hartle (SO/Warsaw, Ind.) led the Saints with a 36-hole score of 177 and a fourth place individual finish.
The Saints opened up round one with a team score of 385, trailing the tournament leader Bethel (Ind.) who finished with a tournament-low of 331.
Sarah Hartle posted a team-best 86 in the round as Kendra Luckey (SO/Danville, Ind.), Emily Duff (SO/Rochester, Ind.) and Kelly Murphy (SR/Youngstown, Ohio) rounded out the Saints scoring. Luckey added a 98, Duff a 99 and Murphy a 102. Freshman Katie Krohn (FR/Noblesville, Ind.) concluded her opening round with a 103.
As a team in round two, the Saints finished with five less strokes for a team score of 380. Leading the way on day two, Kendra Luckey finished eight strokes better than her opening round with a 90. Sarah Hartle added a 90 while Katie Krohn dropped down five strokes for a score of 98.
With her 36-hole score of 177, Sarah Hartle finished the event with a fourth place individual finish. After dropping eight strokes on the final day, Kendra Luckey scored low enough to place in 12th individually with a 36-hole score of 188.
The Saints' team score of 765 placed them in third out of the five-team field, trailing tournament champion Bethel (Ind.) (676) and runner-up Indiana Wesleyan (738).
Genadra Almeida of Bethel (Ind.) brought home the individual medalist honor after posting a tournament-low 36-hole score of 160.
The Saints will wrap up the 2014 regular season in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championship at Glen Eagles Country Club beginning on Wednesday, April 23. The event will conclude on Thursday, April 24 with the tournament champions advancing to the NAIA Nationals held at Wilderness Ridge GC in Lincoln, Nebraska.
