NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Holy Cross junior outfielder Chris Woodruff (JR/Mishawaka, Ind.) was named to the All-CCAC Second Team on Monday morning as the league office released the official awards. The Second Team recognition by Woodruff gives the Saints consecutive players to receive All-Conference recognition in each of the last two seasons.

"It's a very deserving honor for Woody to be recognized with the best in the conference," second year head coach Brian Blondell stated. "He's a guy who comes to the field ready to work every day and has been a great leader for our team in just his first season with us."

To date, Woodruff has appeared in 52 games in his first season with the Saints while making 47 starts in the outfield. Serving as one of the more consistent hitters on the team, Woodruff currently holds a .308 batting average, is tied with a team-high seven doubles while also leading the team with four triples. His speed around the base paths has also taken notice around the conference as he leads the team with 26 stolen bases and a team-high 30 runs scored.

The ability Woodruff has displayed to get on base in his lone season with the Saints has also been noticed as he holds a team-best on base percentage of .440. On top of that, Woodruff has reached base 15 times via walk and 21 times via hit-by-pitch.

"Whatever needs to be done to help the team, you know you can count on Woody to get the job done," continued Blondell. "Whether it's advancing a runner or finding a way to get on base himself, he's willing to do whatever it takes for the betterment of the team."

Woodruff joins fellow teammate, Paul Kappaz (JR/Grosse Pointe, Mich.), as the second player to receive All-CCAC recognition. Kappaz was named First Team All-CCAC in 2013.

Despite the season recognition, Woodruff and the Saints are still in action in the 2014 CCAC postseason with their second game taking place at 1:00 pm EST this afternoon against Olivet Nazarene University. To follow along with live stats, click here.
