Women's Soccer - Thu, Sep. 17, 2009
(South Bend, IN) Despite another great performance in goal by Ashleigh Lemp (Osceola, IN), the Saints could not muster enough offense in a 1-0 loss to the Maple Leafs of Goshen College.
The Saints held strong for 70 minutes, but in the 72nd minute Goshen's Kristina Lopienski put one past Lemp for the games only goal. Laura Schlabach recorded the assist on the play. The Saints were outshot 24 - 2, and trailed in corner kicks 5 - 2. Lemp ended the night with 12 saves.
She was able to preserve the tie throughout the game with one incredible save after another.
"The team is getting to know the level of competition and what it takes to obtain results," said Head Coach Carlos Reynolds. "We all are learning and moving forward to have a great soccer program at Holy Cross."
The Saints travel to Grace College on Saturday afternoon, and will return home on Monday to play Andrews University at 5:30pm.
