Des Plaines, IL – On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the Holy Cross College Saints took on the Oakton College Raiders for the second and final exhibition game of the 2014 preseason. The Saints outlasted Oakton and came away with a 3-2 victory.

The Saints started the game off strong dominating possession and creating all the game's chances in the first 25 minutes. But in the 34th minute, against the run of play Oakton forward David Yanez put the Raiders up a goal with a nice lob shot over Holy Cross keeper Carlos Garcia.

The goal seemed to reawaken the attacking play of the Saints as Fabio Aiello, a 28th minute substitute,  put home the equalizer in the 41st minute with a clean header in the box. The service for the goal was provided by Michael Maiorano. The first half ended deadlocked at one goal apiece. The Saints outshot the Raiders in the first half fifteen to four.

The second half started with a bang as Oakton stole a quick goal in the 50th minute. Oakton forward Nelson Hererra poached a poor pass from the Saints backline and fired one home from the top of the 18 yard box.

The Saints quickly answered in the 53rd minute as Fabio Aiello put in a wonderful lob ball to Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu who smashed it into the back of the net. The Saints were fired up by their second equalizer and continued to create chances searching for a game winner. The winner came in the 76th minute, Ryongmyeong Cho played a well weighted through ball to Lukman who coolly dribbled past the Oakton keeper and slotted home the game winner.

"We did a great job creating chances, we outshot them 27 to 7. But we could have done a lot better when it came to the finishing of our chances. At the end of the day as long as we can finish more chances than our opponent that's what matters," said Head Coach Omar Gallo. "Two wins on the road is great for us to build on as we look to open the season in a little over a week."

Lukman finished the preseason as the Saints top scorer with five goals in two games. The Saints concluded their preseason undefeated and looking towards August 27th where they will play host to Huntington College to begin the regular season.
