(Notre Dame, IN) Coming off a loss to Concordia University last Friday night, the women's basketball team were back home in the McKenna Arena to host Trinity Christian College.
The game remained close for much of the first half, but the Saints maintained the lead for the better part of the half. The Trolls kept it close throughout, but the Saints managed a six point lead at half. Holy Cross shot nearly 48% to Trinity's 34%.
Despite shooting 29% in the second half the Saints were able to make big shots when it counted. The Saints defense kept the pressure on the Trolls forcing turnovers and blocking shots. Alandrea Nailon recorded 4 of the 13 steals for the Saints. The Saints never relinquished the lead and won the game 59 - 53.
Tanesha Vanardo led all scorers with 16 points on 7 - 9 shooting. Baysia Cox chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds on the night.
The Saints improve to 2 - 1 on the season and will play at cross-town heavyweight Bethel College this Saturday at 1pm.
