Westville, Ind. - Holy Cross travelled to Purdue-North Central for a showdown with the Panthers where they were defeated, 10-0. The Saints are now 27-17 overall and 17-9 in conference play.
Jacob Lanning was handed his second loss of the year (8-2) on the mound giving up four earned runs through five innings pitched. The Saints struggled on offense combining for only three hits total in the game, led by Mike Pizzuto who went 2-for-3 from the plate.
The Panthers took control early scoring a combined four runs on five hits and one error in the first three innings, while the Saints were unable to get anything going with their hitting.
PNC held a 5-0 lead going into the seventh inning before completely shutting the door on the Saints scoring five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh. The Saints were unable to avoid being ten run ruled as they went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh taking their ninth conference loss of the season.
