(Mishawaka, IN) J.T. Breveard (South Bend, IN) led the Saints with 16 points and 7 rebounds in a last minute thriller against Marian University Friday evening.

Holy Cross was looking to end their current 5 game skid at the Bethel College Classic. One year ago the Saints lost to Marian by 59 points. The Saints were looking to avenge their second worse loss in program history. The first half was a back and forth battle between the two squads. The Saints trailed by as many as 9 points, but were able to bounce back and tie the game when Zac Cook hit a 3 pointer with 2:30 left in the half. As half closed both teams were dead locked at 27.

Neither team could pull away in the second half, and with each passing minute everyone present new that it was going to come down to a final play. After Marian tied the game at 71 with 10 seconds left, the Saints needed a quick play in order to drive the length of the floor to get a shot off. Breveard took the ball from the top of the key and drove for a layup and missed. Sophomore guard Brad Kendall (Granger, IN) tipped the rebound in with .1 seconds left to give the Saints a 73-71 victory.

Three other Saints were in double figures including Elliott Jones Jr. (Hazel Crest, IL) with 12, Mark Wilkins (Chicago, IL) with 10, and Zac Cook (South Bend, IN) 10. Alex Sylvester of Marian led all scorers with 22 points. The Saints shot 47% from the field and 66% from 3-point range.
The Saints will be back in action Saturday afternoon to play Bethel College at the Weikamp Center in Mishawaka, IN. The men will be back at home for an 8pm tip-off on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, in the McKenna Arena.
