Notre Dame, Ind. - The Holy Cross men's basketball team defeated Akron-Wayne 92-79, Thursday evening. The Saints (3-2) shot 29/61, 47.5%, and 10/26 from 3 to help propel them to the victory.
Ryan Lutz lead the Saints with 28 points on 10-13 shooting from the field, including 3 three pointers. Lutz also grabbed 8 rebounds in the victory. Junior Madison McCaffrey scored 22 points including 7/8 from the free throw line.
The Saints exploded with a season-high 54 points in the first half after shooting 55% for the half. The Saints also shot 53% from three in the half. Lutz had 15, while McCaffrey added 14 for the Saints.
Despite giving up 33 points to the Warriors Demetrius Ray, the Saints went on to outscore the Warriors in the second half by three to get the 12 point victory. The Saints shot 40% from the field and 87% from the line to seal the game.
The Saints (3-2) take the short trip over to IUSB next Wednesday for the first CCAC match-up of the year.
