(Chicago, IL) J.T. Breveard (South Bend, IN) had a game high 21 points in an 80 - 65 loss to St. Xavier University in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening. Holy Cross (1-11, 0-2) shot 37% from the field.
The Saints played superb defense early and held a 2 point lead with 12:57 remaining in the first half. The Cougars responded with a 15 - 3 run and never relinquished the lead. St. Xavier held a 37 - 26 advantage at half.
The Saints pulled within 8 with 1:24 remaining in the game, but St. Xavier (8-1, 2-0) hit their free - throws down the stretch and pulled out an 80 - 65 victory. Mark Wilkins (Chicago, IL) chipped in 14 points and Adam Onderdonk (South Bend, IN) added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Saints. St. Xavier was led by Marco Samimy with 21 points.
The Saints return home this Sunday to take on rival Andrews University. Tip - off is scheduled for 3pm. The Saints will also host cross - town rival No. 2 Bethel College Tuesday, December 8th, at 7pm.
