(Notre Dame, IN) Freshman center Baysia Cox tallied 21 points and pulled down 9 rebounds as the Saints ended their 10 game losing streak to Trinity International University at the McKenna Arena Tuesday evening.
Six lead changes and nine ties kept the game close throughout. Despite opening the game on a 9 - 2 run the Saints had to work hard in a fast paced and high scoring game as both teams traded baskets. The Saints held on to a 2 point lead at the half shooting 43% from the field.
Melanie Duplessis gave the Trojans a 2 point lead midway through the second half, but the Saints quickly regained the lead when freshman guard Lindsey Swaim hit a 3-pointer at the 8:16 mark. The Saints never gave up the lead and won 79 - 71. Tanesha Vanardo chipped in 15 points and Alandrea Nailon recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints.
"We have really grown up over the course of the season thus far," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger.  "Our team has taken it's lumps early on, but I believe that we turned the corner. The whole team deserves credit for this win, we do everything as a team. Trinity is well coached and played extremely hard tonight."
The SaInts will be in action Thursday evening at Sienna Heights University. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm.
