University Park, Ill. - The Holy Cross women's basketball team dominated the second half against Governors State University to pick up their 9th win of the season. The Saints used a big third quarter to build a 19 point lead and propel them to a 81-70 victory. With the win, the Saints are now 9-17 on the year and 7-10 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Jaguars drop to 7-18 and 6-11 in conference action.
Tagin Schultheis and Keysha Streater dominated the second half of play for the visitors helping build the near 20 point lead. Eryn Leek and Jessica Norris were the big contributors in the first half for the Saints, both scoring in double digits. Despite a glaring size advantage by the Jaguars, Holy Cross packed their defense inside the arc to limit the home team's inside touches. The Saints used poised free throw shooting down the stretch to go back to Indiana with the 81-70 victory.
Keysha Streater led the way for the Saints with 21 points on 9/12 shooting from the field while also pulling down 5 rebounds. Jessica Norris found her stroke from long distance scoring 17 points in the win. Tagin Schultheis finished with 14 points, while Eryn Leek and Shana Anderson both pitched in with 10 a piece.
The Saints (9-17, 7-10) are back in action Wednesday as they travel to take on the Trinity Christian Trolls at 6:30pm.
