     (Chicago, IL) The Holy Cross Hockey team played two exciting games this weekend against Robert Morris University. The Saints split the weekend series to put their season record at 6 - 11.
     On Friday night the Saints took a 3 - 1 lead into the third period, but could not hold on for the victory. 5 minutes into the game Tyler Schmatz started the scoring on the night. Nick Picicci answered for RMU to tie the game with 4:26 remaining in the period. The Saints took a 3 - 1 advantage into the third on Shane Leo's 4th goal of the season and Brad Gendel's 8th goal of the season. However, Brian Goff and Dean Stratasakis each scored for the Eagles sending the game into overtime and eventually a shoot-out. Robert Morris pulled out a 2 - 1 shoot-out victory over the Saints. Andrew Ebright continued his stellar performance in goal with 50 saves on the night.
     On Saturday night the Saints used 3 late third period goals to propel them past Robert Morris. With 6:19 remaining in the second period, Ty Robbins, notched the first goal of the game and his eighth on the season. Once again, Nick Picicci answered for RMU four minutes later to even the game at 1. Picicci then put the Eagles up one with 3:28 remaining in the game. However, a flurry of goals came in a two minute span with Brad Gendel, Mitch McLeod, and Tyler Schmatz each scoring for the Saints. Holy Cross won by a final score of 4 - 2.
     The Saints return to action when they host Butler University, Indiana Purdue - Ft. Wayne, and Robert Morris University January 22nd - 24th.
