Palos Heights, Ill. - The Holy Cross women's basketball team dropped a much needed game Wednesday night against Trinity Christian College. In a pivotal game for conference tournament standings the Trolls defeated the Saints 78-50. The Saints drop to 9-18 overall and 7-11 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Trolls are now 14-13 on the season and 7-11 in conference.
The Saints were forced into 26 turnovers on the evening, as the Trolls tallied 19 total steals. The Saints only shot 32.7% from the field, including 7/22 (31.8%) from behind the arc. The Trolls knocked in 42.7% of their shots in the victory. A late run in the second quarter propelled the home team to a 20 point advantage heading into halftime and Holy Cross could never recover.
Tagin Schultheis led the Saints in scoring with 12 points, while Shana Anderson scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Eryn Leek had a solid game with 9 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Raven Delph came off the bench to score 7 points and pulled down 6 rebounds in only 12 minutes of play.
The Saints (9-18, 7-11) return to action to host #15 Purdue Northwest at 1:00pm Saturday afternoon.
