Notre Dame, Ind. - After a disappointing loss at Trinity Christian the Holy Cross women's basketball team responded with playing evenly with one of the nation's best teams. The Saints fell to #15 Purdue Northwest University 82-77 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Saints fall to 9-19 overall and 7-12 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The #15 Pride improve to 21-7 on the year and 16-3 in conference play.
The Saints were led by Shana Anderson who played a great all-around game with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Tagin Schultheis pitched in with 13 points, a team-high 7 assists, and 5 rebounds in the upset bid. Jessica Norris went 4-7 from behind the arc to add 12 points, while Keysha Streater and Alex Forster added 11 points a piece.
The Pride were led by point guard Darien Thompson who scored a game-high 35 points, including 17-17 from the free throw line. Senior Cassidy Deno pitched in with 20 points and 5 assists.
The Saints return to action Wednesday when they host Calumet - St. Joe at 5:30pm. Wednesday will also be Senior Day for the Saints as they honor Shana Anderson for her four years in a Holy Cross uniform.
