Notre Dame, IN. Holy Cross College men's and women's golf opened their season yesterday in the Crosstown Clash. Sophomore Natalia Campbell picked up where she left off last season, carding a score of 77 in the 18-hole event held at Erskine Park Golf Course.
The four team event featured IU-South Bend, Bethel College, Saint Mary's College, and Holy Cross College. The Saints were led by Campbell's 1st place score of 77. Behind Campbell, sophomore Maisie Nugent carded a 91, while freshman Abby Clark scored a 93. Senior Kasey Schaffer finished her round with a 97.
The Saints fielded the event with three freshman and three sophomores, with Kasey Schaffer being the lone senior.
"Our team competed well today," said coach T.J. Mannen. "We are relatively a young team, but our players bring a great deal of experience into this season. We have some talented golfers which will make for an exciting season for us. "
The Saints will be back in action Monday August 28, at they travel to Illinois to compete in the CCAC Cup at Ravisloe Country Club.
