Indianapolis, IN. Men's soccer traveled to Indianapolis today to face Bethel College at Carroll Stadium. The game was a part of the Youth Soccer Month Kick-off event and was the opening match before the Indy Eleven game. In the 12,111 capacity arena the Saints were able to ground the Pilot with a score of 1-0.
Both teams displayed some tough defense, limiting the offense attacks. Going into halftime it was all tied up 0-0, with only six combined shots in the half. The Saints were able to make some halftime adjustments and come out more aggressive in the second half. Leon Gopal was able to find the net off a corner kick from Bruno Souza. The score proved to stand, as the Saints held on to win 1-0
"It was a great performance by our guys today," said Coach Gallo. "We had a game plan going in and we executed it really well against a very good team. It's our first win in school history against our cross town rival so this definitely will give us some confidence moving forward."
The Saints will be back in action when they host Goshen College Monday, September 4 at 4:00. This game features the TopSoccer Day at Ganger Field.
