Berrien Springs, MI. The women's soccer headed north to face Andrews University for their final match in their three-game road stretch. On a wet and slick pitch, the Saints were victorious beating the Lady Cardinals 9-0. With the win, women's soccer improves to 1-2 on the season.
The Saints were able to score quickly and often to start the match. Marijka Lynch-Pastoor found the back of the net at the 9:07 mark, and Renee Montgomery followed that up with a goal of her own at 9:40. Those two goals set the pace for the rest of the high-scoring match. Lynch-Pastoor added another goal at the 18-minute mark and we went into half up 3-0
The offensive attack was carried over into the second half when Rylee Horn scored at the 47 minute mark. Lynch-Pastoor then scored two more goals in the 51 and 53 minutes, the latter being assisted by Mary Gregory. In the 74 minute, Lindsey Woodbury was able to find Montgomery for her second goal of the match. Gabriela Diez finished the match strong, scoring in the 78 and 85 minutes.
Marijka Lynch-Pastoor led the Saints scoring four goals in the match. While Renee Montgomery and Gabriela Diez recorded two goals a piece, and Rylee Horn scored one goal. Mary Gregory, Renee Montgomery, and Lindsey Woodbury each added an assist. Carley Klott was awarded the shutout and three saves in 90 minutes in at goal.
Women's soccer will be back in action for their 2017 home-opener versus Lincoln Christian University September 9 in a 12:00 kick-off.
