Women's Basketball - Wed, Dec. 30, 2009
     (Indianapolis, IN) The women's basketball team was back in action Wednesday afternoon at the Marian University Tournament. The Saints were looking to bounce back against St. Mary -of-the- Woods after a 71 - 47 loss on host Marian Tuesday night.

    The Saints looked strong in the first half leading by as many as 8 with under 6 minutes to play. However, the Woods climbed back in the game to pull within 2 going on an 8 - 2 run to end the half. The Saints led 27 - 25 at the break.

     After Alandrea Nailon (South Bend, IN) hit a 3 - pointer to start the second half for Holy Cross it was all St. Mary-of-the-Woods. The Woods responded with an 8 - 0 run to take their first lead of the game since the 14:28 mark in the first half. They never squandered the lead and led by as many as 19. The Woods (4-6) pulled out a 64 - 51 victory. The loss drops the Saints to 3 - 15 overall. 
     Leading the Saints was Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Jacques Donaldson (South Bend, IN) chipped in 12 and Alandrea Nailon recorded a double - double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Brittany Shaner led The Woods with a game high 17 points.
     The Saints return to action January 5th, 2010, against Conference foe St. Xavier University. Tip-off is slated for 7pm in the McKenna Arena.
