Turnovers Costly for Saints

(Notre Dame, IN) Suffering their worse loss of the season on November 3rd, to #2 St. Xavier University, the women's basketball welcomed the Cougars to the Pfeil Center for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) re-match.
Both teams struggled to put points on the board early in the game. Marquita Smith of St. Xavier started the scoring 2 minutes into the game. The Saints answered on their next possession tying the game as Jalisa Edwards (Chicago, IL) connected on a jumper to recorded 2 of her 10 points. However, the Cougars quickly took control of the game going on two separate 6 - 0 runs, and a 7 - 0 run. The Saints trailed 38 - 22 at half.
St. Xavier did not let up in the second half playing stiff defense. The Cougars converted 34 points off 29 turnovers. Erin Hannemann led the Cougars with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jalisa Edwards and Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) each recorded a double - double. Edwards ended with 10 points and 16 rebounds while Cox finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action Saturday, January 9th, at Robert Morris University. Tip - off is scheduled for 7pm.
