(Hammond, IN) The Saints used two second half rallies to beat the Peregrines of Purdue-Calumet University Saturday afternoon.
Trailing by 7 points at halftime the Saints opened the second half with an 8 - 2 run. A pair of J.T. Breveard (South Bend, IN) free-throws pulled the Saints within 1, but Calumet responded with a 12 - 0 run holding Holy Cross scoreless for nearly 4 minutes.
The Saints trailed by as many as 14 points with 12:28 remaining in the game. However, the Saints came storming back and regained the lead since the 16:58 mark in the first half. Over the final minute of play the Saints hit free-throw after free-throw to seal their third victory of the season.
Breveard led Holy Cross with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Taylor Williams (South Bend, IN) and Andrew Tullis (Orland, IN) each chipped in 16 points. Leading Calumet was Aaron Evans with 23 points. The Saints outrebounded Calumet 49 - 37.
Holy Cross will be back in action on January 20th, at 7pm against Robert Morris University for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference game.
