(Notre Dame, IN) Despite an early 7-0 run to start the game the Saints could not hold off current Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference leaders St. Francis.
St. Francis finally got on the board at the 17:27 mark when Kellie Fazio hit 3 of her team leading 19 points. St. Francis was able to quickly pull away in the half extending their lead to 9. However, the Saints bounced back with a 6-0 run to pull within 3. After trading baskets over the final two minutes the Saints trailed 36-34 at the break.
St Francis broke free of Holy Cross going on a 15-0 run that stretched over 4 minutes. The Saints battled hard and pulled within 11 at the 9:36 mark after Jacques Donaldson (South Bend, IN) nailed a 3-pointer. She finished with 10 points on the day. The Saints would not get any closer and eventually fell 86-67.Holy Cross shot 42% from the field and outrebound St. Francis 36-35.
Freshman center Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) had a career day dropping in 31 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Alandrea Nailon (South Bend, IN) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Saints.
The women's basketball team will be back in action Saturday, February 6th, at CCAC opponent Olivet Nazarene University.
