(Notre Dame, IN) Holy Cross College freshman center Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) player of the week in NAIA, DI women's basketball.
Baysia help lead Holy Cross to an 83 - 71 victory over IU-Northwest with 22 points and 9 rebounds. She also recorded 4 steals in the game. She followed that performance up with a career and school record 31 points in a single game against the University of St. Francis (IL). In addition to her 31 points, Baysia pulled down 8 rebounds.
Baysia shot 83% on 15 - 18 shooting from the charity stripe. She averaged 26.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, and shot 52.8% from the field for the week.
The Saints are 5 - 20 in their first year as a varsity program. Baysia is averaging 13 points a game and shooting 53.4% from the field on the year. She is also the first student-athlete to earn conference player of the week in school history.
