Fransted Takes Over Cross Country Program

(Notre Dame, IN) The Holy Cross Athletic Department announces the hiring of Jason Fransted as Head Coach for the men's and women's cross country teams. Fransted is the third coach in program history. Coach Barstis led the Saints from 2007-09 and will remain on the staff for the 2010 season.
Coach Fransted currently works with the Memorial Health and Lifestyle Center where he develops workouts, classes, and training groups for their members. He is also a course director for the Salmon Chase 5K and 10K races, training instructor for the Sunburst half-marathon, and assists with HealthWorks children's 5K running program.
A graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, Fransted earned his Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science. He was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa which is a national fraternity for health professionals. He also assisted in a handicapped program for the National Institute of Fitness and Sports through the IUPUI physical education department.
Fransted has been an assistant coach for the track and cross country team's at Marian High School. He is Fitlinxx level 2 certified and Crossfit Endurance certified. The Saints compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and are members of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
