Turnovers Costly for Saints

(Notre Dame, IN) The Saints welcomed the Eagles of Robert Morris University Saturday afternoon to the McKenna Arena for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match-up.
The Eagles opened up with a 26 - 3 run that lasted until the 7:10 mark in the first half. Pressure from the RMU defense created 12 turnovers within the first 15 minutes of the game However, the Saints were able to cut the lead to 15 after Tanesha Vanardo (Markham, IL) hit a 3-pointer at the 6:23 mark. The Eagles quickly answered with an 8-0 run stretching their lead to 23. The Saints trailed 46 - 21 at the half and only shot 25% from the field on 7-for-28 shooting. RMU shot 42% from on 16-for-38 shooting.
The Eagles were able to extend their lead to 30 by the 13 minute mark. The Saints did not go down quietly. Holy Cross was able to put together a 12 - 0 run to cut the lead to 16, but in the end Robert Morris prevailed with a 78 - 57 conference win.
Center Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) led the Saints with 17 points. Alandrea Nailon (South Bend, IN) recorded her fourth double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Tanesha Vanardo chipped in 13 for the Saints. Leading Robert Morris was Jerita Gordon with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action Tuesday night at the Pfeil Center against IU-Northwest. Tip-off is at 4:30pm.
