(Notre Dame, IN) The Saints were in action Tuesday evening in a non-conference match-up against the Redhawks of IU-Northwest.
Despite connecting on fifteen 3-pointers, having 4 players in double figures, and forcing 21 turnovers the Saints could not pull out the victory. Holy Cross took an early 4 point lead, but IU-Northwest went on a 10 - 0 run to take the lead. The Saints managed to tie the game three times before the half ended however, the Redhawks led 37 - 33 at the break.
IUNW extended their lead to 17 at the 13:22 mark in the second, but the Saints responded with a 9 - 2 run to cut the lead to 10. Holy Cross slowly chipped away at the Redhawk lead and trailed by 2 with 30 seconds remaining. Juliette Keller of Northwest hit 6 free throws over the final 37 seconds to give the Redhawks an 85 - 81 win.
Lindsey Swaim (Elkhart, IN) had a season high 27 points nailing seven 3-pointers. Alandrea Nailon (South Bend, IN) and Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) each chipped in 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Leading IU-Northwest was Juliette Keller with 34 points. Sharon Houston had a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action Tuesday, February 23rd, against Olivet Nazarene in the McKenna Arena. Please note this game was moved from Saturday, February 20th.
