(Wisconsin Dells, WI) The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team took to the field for the first time this year at the Wisconsin Dells. The Saints played four indoor games over the weekend.
Holy Cross began play Saturday afternoon against the University of Wisconsin-black. The Saints fell behind 1-0, but quickly regained the lead as 5 different players scored. The Saints took 21 shots and game one 6 - 2.
Up next was a rematch of last year's championship game against the University of Wisconsin-red. Heading into half the game was tied 3 - 3. The Saints used 4 second half goals and shut down the Wisconsin attack to claim a 7 - 3 victory. Junior goalkeeper Jeff Byers came up with big saves in the final quarter to stop any Wisconsin comeback. Freshman Brian Benedict and senior Greg Cunn each scored two goals.
The Saints put together two dominating performances Sunday morning. Holy Cross first beat the University of North Dakota 12 - 1, and then Mad Cow Lacrosse Club 13 - 1. Eight different players scored for the Saints over the final two games.
The Saints will not play again until March 28th, against Columbia College and Northern Illinois University. Both games will be played at Lake Forest College.
