Cougars Top Saints in Conference Tournament

(Chicago, Ill.) Despite a career night from Taylor Williams (South Bend, Ind.) the Saints could not pull off the upset victory over the No. 3 seed St. Xavier University in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) tournament.
Trailing by 8 after Pierre Jackson (South Bend, Ind.) hit a lay-up at the 6:37 mark in the first half, the Cougars went on a 13 - 3 run extending their lead to 18. Despite getting 11 second chance points the Saints trailed 54 - 35 at the break.
The Cougars opened the second half with a 10 - 0 run crippling the Saints chances for a comeback. Williams paced the Saints on 10-for-19 shooting with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Zac Cook (South Bend, Ind.) added 16 including 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc. Phil Riggs led Xavier with 24 points and 20 rebounds.
The Saints end their second year as a varsity program at 3 - 28. Holy Cross will continue to play in the CCAC, but will move back to division II after playing this year in division I. The Saints moved to division I while Roosevelt University prepares to enter next year.
