(Niles, Mich.) The Holy Cross College Saints welcomed Sienna Heights University to Thomas Memorial Stadium in a double header Saturday afternoon.
Donning their pink jerseys for cancer awareness the Saints hosted their first annual "Striking Out Cancer" day. Pitching 5.1 innings, Nate Bilinski (South Bend, Ind.) struck out 3, gave up 6 runs (2 earned) and walked 7 in game one. The Saints committed 5 errors and fell 8 - 5 in 7 innings.
Leadoff hitter Tim Mouton (Houston, Tex.) collected 3 hits knocked in one run and scored. Jordi Schock (South Bend, Ind.) batted 2-for-3 scored twice and had one RBI for the Saints. Billy Salazar of Sienna had 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and 2 hits including a sixth inning homerun to left center that broke a 4 - 4 tie.
Saints Rebound in Game 2
(Niles, Mich.) Behind sophomore pitcher Zac Cook (South Bend, Ind.) the Saints rebounded in game two and won convincingly by a score of 11 - 5.
Holy Cross jumped out to an early 3 run lead in the first after Jordi Schock (South Bend, Ind.) doubled to left center scoring two runs. The Saints broke the game wide open in the fourth inning putting up four runs. Chris Lushis (Bethlehem, Penn.) led the Saints with 4 RBI's on 2 hits including a third inning blast to right center field.
Cook picked up his first win of the season pitching 5 innings spreading out 6 hits and striking out five. Robert Jankowski (South Bend, Ind.) closed out the game over the final two innings giving up one run and striking out one.
Holy Cross (2-9) will host Kalamazoo College in a double header on April 5th. First pitch is scheduled for 2pm at Thomas Memorial Stadium.
