The Holy Cross men's golf team participated in the St. Francis Fall Classic with a sixth place finish out of seventeen teams. The course was a par 71 with a total yardage of 6,196.
The Saints were able to post a team score of 300, only 8 strokes off the lead. Of the seventeen teams St. Ambrose University was able to pull out a two stoke win over St. Francis (ILL). The top five finished out with Wheaton College at 296, North Central College at 297, and the College of Dupage with a team score of 298.
Freshman Jake Baranek led all Holy Cross scores with a 73 only 3 strokes behind leaders Adam Billmeyer of St. Francis, and Joe Hraback from the College of Dupage. Tyler Alge and Matt Adler tied for second best on the team scoring a 75. The Saints were able to score 11 birdies and 46 pars as a team. "The team played well," said Head Coach Ryan Gowen. "We have shot well throughout the year, and I am proud of their effort."
The Saints will look forward to competing in the Robert Morris College Invitational on September 20th.
