Men's Soccer - Mon, May. 10, 2010
(Notre Dame, Ind.) It is common knowledge that soccer (football, futbol, futebal, fussball) is a global sport. As one looks at the Holy Cross men's soccer roster next year, many will notice the increasing number of international students. The latest being Farkhod Kurbonov of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Kurbonov, a 6-foot-6 striker, played his club ball with Locomotive Dushanbe where he earned best striker for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. Farkhod also holds two school track and field records for the 100 meters and long jump.
"Farkhod is coming to us with an instinct of finding the net," said Head Coach Dustan Harley. "Farkhod adds a ton of energy and effort the second he steps onto the field and will make a huge impact on our squad.  He works harder than any forward I have seen in a long time and is a cornerstone signing for the incoming recruiting class."
While attending Holy Cross Dushanbe will be working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He is the 18th recruit to sign with Coach Harley and the Saints this off-season.
