(Notre Dame, Ind.) Clay High School standout Mariah Salazar signed a letter of intent Monday afternoon inside the McKenna Arena located on the campus of Holy Cross College to continue her academic and athletic career with the Saints basketball program.
"Mariah is a wonderful young lady who has so much untapped potential," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "The strongest part of Mariah's game is her tenacious defense as well as her ability to get by her defender on her way to the hole. Mariah will give us another lock-down defender on the perimeter and that is something we really needed to address this off-season. I'm very happy for Mariah and her family; this was a great day for all of us."
Salazar, a 5'2'' guard, helped the Colonials to an 18 - 3 mark in 2010 and averaged over 2.5 steals a game. She recorded 5 steals or more in a game 6 times during her senior season. Mariah was also a member of the track and cross country teams at Clay. She will be working towards a bachelor's degree in psychology.
