Men's Soccer - Sun, Sep. 12, 2010
(South Bend, Ind.) Despite an early two goal lead the Holy Cross Men's Soccer team could not hold off the Knights of Marian University Saturday evening at the Indiana Invaders complex.

Two goals in less than a minute by senior midfielder Oswaldo Garcia-Garrido (Elkhart, Ind.) gave the Saints a two goal lead in the 24th minute, but the Knights responded with a goal of their own two minutes later off a corner kick as Troy Lock beat Saints goalkeeper Damian Marciniak (Michigan City, Ind.).

After a red card was issued late in the first half to Marian's Brad Noel the Saints had a one man advantage and a one goal lead entering the second half. The Saints once again controlled much of the game, but the Knights added goals in the 74th minute (Daniel Terrel) and 84th minute (Michael Foerster) to take the game with a 3 - 2 victory.

"The second half should have been a fun forty-five minutes for the guys, but we turned it into a lot of work for ourselves," said Head Coach Dustan Harley. "Marian played with a ton of heart and energy and we just didn't step up to the challenge last night."

The Saints outshot Marian 19 - 7 and led in corner kicks 6 - 2. This marks the second time this season the Saints outshot an opponent but were unable to win. Holy Cross returns to action Monday, September 13th, against Concordia University (Mich.).
