(Deerfield, Ill.) The women's soccer team opened Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Saturday against Trinity International University.
The Saints were forced to play with 10 players after goalkeeper Jessica Heston (Plymouth, Ind.) and midfielder Monica Zehr (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) received concussions during last Wednesday's home victory over Trine University.
The Trojans did not waste any time and took advantage of the Saints man down situation scoring two goals in the first minute of action. Valerie Patout (New Iberia, LA) filled the goalkeeper position nicely and held off the Trojan attack until the 20th minute. The Trojans finally broke the game wide open midway through the first half and took a 7 - 0 advantage into half.
Trinity added 2 more goals in the 42nd and 44th minutes to cruise past the Saints with a 9 - 0 victory. Patout ended the afternoon with 15 saves
The loss drops the Saints to 1 - 8 on the year and 0 - 1 in conference play. The Saints continue conference play this Wednesday, September 29th, at home against the University of St. Francis.
